NLC (2024) depicts a parade of uniformed figures marching with red, green and white banners under an orange and purple sky. Realized on vintage sanyan, whose alternating green and beige stripes echo the colors of the Nigerian flag, the painting presents a sea of protestors emerging from the background and charging forward. Omuku realized this painting from a collage of press photographs documenting the Nigerian Labour Congress’s response to the ongoing economic crisis following the Nigerian presidential election of 2023.
