How It Ends (2024) presents a lone figure walking across a landscape of broken tiles and scattered debris. A vibrant, citric yellow emanates from his body, pulsating across the composition and through additional figures who float in the background, watching as the scene unfolds. The painting responds to a recent controversy in Nigeria, where the government ordered the demolition of numerous occupied homes citing improper building permits in Lekki, a coastal city just outside of Lagos, in October 2023.
