The Quiet Hour

July 23 - August 28, 2026 Olney Gleason is pleased to present The Quiet Hour, a group exhibition of contemporary and historical paintings and works on paper united by a shared inquiry into the act of observation. Drawing from experience, memory, or a layering of both, each artist approaches the perceivable world through a distinct pictorial vocabulary – reduction, accumulation, disintegration – ultimately conflating the sensation of looking with that of painting itself. The exhibition joins work by Jamiu Agboke, Diana Al-Hadid, Milton Avery, Paul Cezanne, Kaye Donachie, David Flaugher, Nick Goss, Elizabeth Hazan, Ian Felice, Jane Freilicher, Susumu Kamijo, Per Kirkeby, Tyler Ormsby, Ellen Siebers, and Frank Walter. Danielle Fretwell: Terms of Consumption

June 11 - July 17, 2026 Olney Gleason is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new oil paintings by New Hampshire-based artist Danielle Fretwell (b. 1996). Jill Magid: Notice of a Citizen

June 11 - July 17, 2026 Jill Magid’s Notice of a Citizen considers the ambiguous relationship between a citizen and the presidency through a series of sculptures, neon works, and drawings. On view at Olney Gleason from June 11, 2026, the exhibition draws on the forms, language, and objects that structure public appearances in the White House Rose Garden – historically referred to as “the people’s garden.” Notice of a Citizen anticipates the release of the artist’s career-spanning monograph, With Full Consent, (September 2026; Creative Time and Dancing Foxes Press). April 2 - May 2, 2026 Leonor Fini: Menagerie brings together a selection of work spanning the genres of portraiture, literary and erotic drawings, and original set and costume designs. The exhibition anticipates a major retrospective organized by the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt in October 2026 that will travel to the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris in 2027. Read more

April 2 - May 2, 2026 In his landmark first U.S. solo exhibition, Brazilian painter Arjan Martins (b. 1960, Rio de Janeiro) presents new figure paintings and portraits on canvas. One of the most vital voices in contemporary Brazilian art, Martins has spent more than three decades developing a singular pictorial language that employs images from collective memory to conjure a reality that transcends linear time.
